Educate, Liberate, Elevate: An Interactive Event to Address the School-to-Prison Pipeline

October 21, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm CDT

EDUCATE! LIBERATE! ELEVATE! Join youth and families for an interactive event hosted by Families and Friends of Louisiana Incarcerated Children (FFLIC) regarding the school-to-prison pipeline system!

FFLIC youth with Black Girls Rising and partner Black Man Rising are hosting and event on October 21, 2023, from 12pm to 3 pm (1824 Oretha Castle Haley) to address issues surrounding the school-to-prison pipeline system and how it affects families in the communities  and across the city and state. EDUCATE! LIBERATE! ELEVATE! will include an interactive game where participants will be able to experience what the school-to-prison pipeline feels like. We are also hosting round table discussions free for anyone to participate. This will allow us to hear firsthand stories and testimonies of the youth and families from the community and how school policies have impacted them.

Please join us!

This event is important to youth, parents, families, and community because it provides us with a safe space to express our feelings and concerns while also having the ability to learn from the experiences of others. The desired outcome of this event is to make us stronger as a community while also being heard! Change cannot happen without amplifying the voices who are calling for that change. We are inviting you to come, listen, and elevate these voices!
