FFLIC is dedicated to ending the school to prison pipeline that continues to criminalize our children robbing them of valuable classroom time and educational opportunities!

Right now across America and here in Louisiana there is a crisis: black children are being arrested at alarming rates for playing. Behavior that was once a trip to the principal’s office or a letter to the parents is now often treated as a suspendable or even criminal offense.

Eighty percent of all arrest made in the Louisiana school districts are of black children who make up just 42% of the total student body.  Instead of constructive interventions, these children face criminal records that can permanently push them out of school and into the school-to-prison pipeline.

Why do our children continue to be viewed as PROBLEMS, when in reality many of our children HAVE problems that most do not have the support or resources to cope with?

Who will you get to speak out for your child or other family member if they are one day negatively impacted by the zero tolerance policies being instituted around the country as a way to handle a child’s challenging behavior?

FFLIC!  For 15 years FFLIC has fought to remedy the injustices that target our children – especially low-wealth children of color – who are at risk of becoming entrapped in the juvenile justice maze!

As part of our “Let Kids be Kids” initiative to end the school-to-prison pipeline, we are pushing schools to stop criminalizing childhood behavior and implement alternative forms of correction, particularly Restorative Justice measures.

We are asking that you donate to FFLIC so that we may continue the fight for our children and families whose voices continue to be left out of the dialogues when school policies and laws are enacted that criminalize our children for being who they are – CHILDREN!

We are asking for your generosity to help FFLIC continue our fight to keep our most vulnerable members of society – our CHILDREN – in school learning instead of being tossed behind bars unable to reach for the love of their families, friends, and their DREAMS!

We are asking that you donate and pledge to take a stand to end the school-to-prison pipeline! Together, we can ensure that childhood behavior does not ruin an adult’s life.

Please SPREAD THE WORD and please DONATE to FFLIC!  No amount is too big or too small when it comes to our CHILDREN!

All donations are tax-deductible in accordance with IRS rules governing 501(c)3 organizations.

FFLIC and our families thank you for your support!
